With its vast history and fascinating past the Merseyside region
is suitably regarded as the North-west's arts and heritage epicentre.
Visitors from all over the World come to Merseyside for exactly
this reason. Some of the UK's most respected museums and galleries
reside here captivate all who see them.
Galleries like the Tate and Walker are known the World over and
are classed as the two of the most prestigious display centres in
UK. These complement the smaller, yet just as important galleries
such as those located at Bluecoat (left), the University of Liverpool
and one off exhibitions which are held all year round in the region.
The region's museums also play part in the Merseyside's cultural
experience providing their visitors with knowledge, education and
most importantly - a rewarding day out. There are tens of museums
in the Merseyside region to choose from, each focusing on very different
areas of phenomena and human existence.
One museum that stands out which is usually of interest of to most
visitors to the area is the Maritime Museum. Here you can chart
the region's seafaring past from expeditions to the 'New World'
to building of some of the World's greatest ships. Or why not visit
Prescot Museum. Here you can discover (and try yourself) how clocks
and watches were once made in the historic town of Prescot. Or if
that seems a little tame, why not take the kids to Liverpool Museum.
Here you can take a journey through time from the dinosaurs to the
space age all in the space of a couple of hours.
Whatever you choose to do we here at Merseyside Today are sure
you'll have a great time!
